TRY OUTS

The GunDawgs program is well known throughout the triad. Tryouts are held for the following baseball teams. Each player is only required to attend one of the tryout dates for their age group. For baseball, please remember, the age your child will be on May 1st 2025 is the age they will need to try out for.

Example: The age your child will be on May 1st 2027 is the age they will need to try out for.

• 8u can not turn 9 before 5/1/27

• 9u can not turn 10 before 5/1/27

• 10u can not turn 11 before 5/1/27

• 11u can not turn 12 before 5/1/27

• 12u can not turn 13 before 5/1/27

The GunDawgs field 1-2 teams per age group. We host tryouts in June/July of each year with a mid-year tryout around November to January. Once a player is chosen to be a member of a specific team, it is a one-year commitment beginning in August and concluding the following July. Tournaments are played in the fall, spring, and summer; winter training also takes place (with coaches’ discretion). Teams typically have two practices per week and play in an average of two tournaments per month (which may include travel).

Fall 2026 Tryouts

This season, we’ve restructured our tryout process to give players and coaches a better overall evaluation experience. Instead of holding a traditional tryout, prospective players will be invited to attend team practice alongside our current roster. This approach allows our coaching staff to evaluate not only individual skills and athletic ability, but also how players communicate, compete, and mesh within the team environment.
